今回は、Fred（フレッド）先生をご紹介します！

温かくユニークな性格のフレッド先生！15年以上の英語教師としての経験があり、初心者から上級者まで幅広いレベルの指導を得意としています。いつでも前向きに寄り添って教えてくれるので、英語が苦手な人も前向きにレッスンを受講いただける先生です。

そんなフレッド先生に講師を目指したきっかけや、英語を学ぶコツについて聞いてみました！

ー　出身は？

私はフィリピンの中部ルソン地方にあるパンパンガ州で生まれ育ちました。パンパンガは、豊かな文化、おいしい料理、温かい人々、そして歴史的な意義で知られています。州都であるサン・フェルナンド市は、毎年12月に開催される「巨大ランタンフェスティバル」で有名です。

ー　趣味は何ですか？

私は音楽が大好きで、さまざまなジャンルを探求するのを楽しんでいます。作詞をしたり、ピアノやギターを弾いたりします。音楽以外にも、コメディドラマやSF映画を観るのが好きです。運転や旅行は私にとって癒しの時間であり、また、自由時間には瞑想も実践しています。

ー　英語の講師を目指したきっかけは何ですか？

私は長年、教会の地域プログラムで学校に通えない若者たちにボランティアで教えてきました。多くの若者たちと関わる中で、一人ひとりにそれぞれの物語があることを知りました。そして、教育が人生を変える力を持っていることを実感しました。単に知識を伝えるだけでなく、彼らにより良い未来へのチャンスを与え、自信を築き、夢を持つきっかけを与えることができます。彼らの成長を見守り、未来への希望が芽生える姿を見られることは、とてもやりがいのある経験でした。この経験を通じて、教育がより良い未来を築く鍵であると確信しました。

ー　英語を学ぶコツは何ですか？

英語学習は楽しく、やりがいのあるものであるべきです。単にルールや単語を暗記するのではなく、その過程を楽しむことが大切です。ゲームやアクティビティ、インタラクティブな練習を取り入れることで、モチベーションが上がり、自信がつきます。映画を観たり、本を読んだり、人と英語で話したりと、毎日少しずつ英語に触れる習慣をつけましょう。学習を楽しむことができれば、それが継続につながり、上達も早くなります。少しずつでも前進することが重要です。あなたならきっとできます！

ー　教えるのが得意な分野は何ですか？

私は15年以上の英語教師としての経験があり、初心者から上級者まで幅広いレベルの生徒を指導してきました。生徒一人ひとりのニーズに合わせて柔軟に対応し、日常会話、発音、ビジネス英語、またTOEIC、IELTS、英検、TOEFLなどの試験対策もサポートしています。生徒がどのレベルにいても、その学習の旅を全力で支援することが私の目標です。

ー　将来の夢、目標、ビジョンを教えてください！

私は教育者として、生徒が自分の可能性を最大限に発揮し、英語学習に自信を持てるようサポートすることに情熱を注いでいます。生徒一人ひとりに合った指導を行い、単に英語力を向上させるだけでなく、自信を育む手助けをしたいと考えています。前向きな学習環境を作ることで、チャレンジする勇気を持ち、大きな目標を掲げ、英語を習得する成功体験を積んでほしいと思っています。生徒の成長を見守ることは、私にとって最もやりがいのあることです。

また、私の個人的な目標は、自分の情熱を生かし、社会に良い影響を与えることです。創造性を表現し、人々とつながるために、自作の音楽を制作したいと考えています。また、SF小説を書き、自分のアイデアを形にし、多くの人と共有したいです。さらに、単なるビジネスとしてではなく、人々が「家のように感じられる場所」となるレストランを開くことも夢の一つです。最も大切なのは、困っている人々を助けることで社会に貢献することです。私は「思いやり」と「コミュニティ」の力を信じています。

ー Where are you from?

I was born and raised in Pampanga which is a province in the Central Luzon region of the Philippines. It is known for its rich culture, delicious cuisine, warm-hearted people, and historical significance. The capital of Pampanga is San Fernando City, which is famous for its Giant Lantern Festival held every December.

ー What’s your hobby?

I am a music enthusiast who enjoys exploring different genres. I write songs and play both the piano and guitar. In addition to my love for music, I enjoy watching comedy TV series and science-fiction movies. Driving and traveling are therapeutic for me, and I also practice meditation in my free time.

ー Why did you become a teacher?

For many years, I’ve volunteered as a teacher for out-of-school youth in our church community program. I’ve had the chance to work with many young people, each with their own story. As I helped them learn, I saw how education can truly change lives. It’s not just about sharing knowledge, but giving them a chance for a better future, building their confidence, and inspiring dreams they didn’t think were possible. Watching them grow and seeing their hopes for the future has been incredibly rewarding. This experience has made me even more convinced that education can shape a better tomorrow.

ー What are your tips to learn English?

Learning English should be fun and rewarding. It’s not just about memorizing rules or words; it’s about enjoying the journey. By using games, activities, and interactive exercises, you’ll feel more motivated and confident. Try to use English every day, whether by watching movies, reading books, or talking with others. Each chance to practice helps you improve. The key is to make learning exciting, so every small step counts. The more fun and meaningful it is, the easier it will be to keep learning. You can do it!

ー Which area are you good at teaching?

With over 15 years of experience as an English teacher, I’ve had the privilege of working with students across a range of levels, from beginner to advanced. I strive to be flexible and adapt to my students’ needs, whether it’s with general conversation, pronunciation, business English, or preparing for exams like TOEIC, IELTS, EIKEN, and TOEFL. My goal is always to support my students in their learning journey, no matter where they are in their language development.

ー What’s your dream/life goal/vision for the future?

As an educator, I’m passionate about helping my students grow and feel inspired to reach their full potential in learning English. My goal is to create a supportive environment where they feel motivated and confident to push themselves. I aim to provide personalized instruction that meets each student’s needs, helping them not only improve their language skills but also build confidence in themselves. By fostering a positive atmosphere, I hope to encourage them to take on challenges, set big goals, and succeed in mastering English. Seeing my students grow is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

My personal goals are tied to my passions and desire to make a positive impact. I want to produce my own music to express creativity and connect with others. Writing a science fiction book is another goal, where I can bring my ideas to life and share them. I also hope to open a restaurant, not just as a business, but as a place that feels like home for people. Most importantly, I want to give back to society by helping those in need because I believe in kindness and community.
