今回はErika先生をご紹介します！10月から新しくPHLIGHT英会話の講師として働いてくれることになりました。Erika先生の性格や趣味などを聞いてみました。

ー　出身は？

フィリピンのセブ島です。南の最大都市としても知られている場所です。綺麗なビーチや美味しい食べ物、珍しい食べ物が沢山あります。セブ島の名物レチョンバーボイもぜひ食べてみてください。

ー　趣味は？

フィリピン料理を作ることや、電車に乗っている時に目を閉じながら音楽を聴くことが大好きです。寝ることも趣味の一つです。

ー　どうして日本に来たいと思ったんですか？

私がまだフィリピンに住んでいた時、日本はアジアで最も安全な国だと知られていました。一体どれほど安全な国なのか経験してみたくて日本に来たいと思うようになりました。

また、大学を卒業して私が一番初めに就いた職業が日本人に英語を教えることだったんです。そこで日本人の優しさに感動して、日本で働きたいという気持ちがより強くなりました。

ー　英語の講師を目指したきっかけは何ですか？

幼い時に出会った講師の方々の影響が大きいです。彼らが私の講師に対する職業観を変えてくれました。講師の方々の、生徒に優しくする姿勢、生徒たちがどんな教科でもベストを尽くせるように励ます姿勢をとても尊敬しています。だから私も彼らのようになりたいと思い、講師を目指すことを決めました。今でもこの決断に後悔はしていません。

ー　英語を学ぶ上でのTipsを教えてください！

外国語を学ぶということは自分のなりたい職業に就くという夢を叶えるのと同じことです。一からコツコツと始めること、そして出来ない部分を受け入れることが上達する秘訣です。諦めなければその夢は叶います。

ー　将来の夢を教えてください！

障害を持つ子供たちのための学校をつくることです。その学校で子供たちが学びたいことを、差別を受けずに学べるよう支えたいです。

ー　最後に、英語学習者へのメッセージをお願いします！

一緒に英語を勉強をして目標以上のゴールを目指しましょう。英語を話せるようになる、という夢を持ってその夢を叶えてください。

– Where are you from?

I was born in Cebu City, Philippines, also known as the Queen City of South. Where you can find beautiful beaches and delicious food and delicacies, you can also find the best Lechon Baboy in Cebu.

– What’s your hobby?

I love to cook Filipino dishes and listen to music especially when I am on the train while closing my eyes, so I guess sleeping is one of my hobbies as well.

– Why did you choose Japan?

Japan is best known as the safest place in Asia back when I was still in my home country and because of that I want to experience how safe the place is.

Also, after I graduated from university, my first job was to teach Japanese nationals English and I was amazed at how kind my students were so that gives me the eagerness to choose Japan as one of my dream countries to work in.

– Why did you become a teacher?

When I was young, there were certain teachers that made me choose teaching as a profession. I like how they were able to change my view of this profession. I idolize them for being kind, and really motivated us to do our best in any subjects, that’s when I decided to be one of them and I didn’t regret being one.

– What are your tips to learn English?

Learning another language is the same as wanting to get your dream job you have to start from scratch and accept criticism to improve yourself and if you don’t give up you can be on top of the job you really wanted.

– What’s your dream/ life goal/ vision for the future?

I dream to have my own school for children with disability and support them in learning the things they want to learn without discrimination.

– Give a message to English learners!
