今回は、Henry（ヘンリー）先生をご紹介します！

落ち着いた雰囲気で生徒に安心感を与えてくれる、ヘンリー先生。
英語を教えることに情熱を持ち、歌やダンス、デジタルアートといった多彩な趣味を活かしながら、生徒に寄り添ったレッスンを行っています。特に日常会話や発音指導を得意としており、自然な英語を身に着けたい方にぴったりな先生です。

そんなヘンリー先生に講師を目指したきっかけや、英語を学ぶコツについて聞いてみました！

ー　出身は？

私はフィリピンのメトロ・マニラにあるカロオカン市の出身です。にぎやかで活気にあふれた街で、特にバイクの多さが印象的です！交通量が多い中、バイクはすばやく移動できる便利な手段としてとても人気があります。カロオカンは都市のエネルギーと地域の文化が混ざり合っていて、特別な魅力を持つ場所です。

ー　趣味は何ですか？

歌ったり、踊ったり、デジタルアートで自分を表現するのが好きです。創造的にリラックスできる時間ですし、自分らしさを表現できるのが楽しいです。また、時間があるときはバスケットボールをして体を動かすのも楽しみのひとつです。ゆっくりしたい時には、モバイルゲームで遊んで気分転換しています。アクティブなことも、創作活動も、リラックスもバランスよく楽しんでいます！

ー　英語の講師を目指したきっかけは何ですか？

大学時代に小学校を訪問して、子どもたちにアルファベットや基本的な単語を教える機会がありました。そのとき、子どもたちが学ぶ姿を見て、教えることの楽しさややりがいを強く感じました。誰かが成長していく過程に関われることがとても嬉しくて、自然と「教えること」を目指すようになりました。

ー　英語を学ぶコツは何ですか？

英語を上達させるには、なるべく英語に触れる時間を増やすのが一番です！英語の本を読んだり、アメリカの映画やテレビ番組を観たり、英語のポッドキャストや音楽を聴いたりするのがオススメです。楽しみながら英語の音や使い方に慣れていけるのがポイントです。それに、英会話教室やオンライン英会話などで実際に会話する機会を持つこともとても大切です。日常的に英語を使うことで、自然に身についていきますよ！

ー　教えるのが得意な分野は何ですか？

日常会話や発音指導が得意です。これまでの経験を通して、文の構造や言い回しをサポートしてきましたが、特に子どもたちの発音練習に力を入れてきました。私は忍耐強く、励ましながら教えることを大切にしています。学ぶ楽しさを伝えることで、生徒が自信を持って話せるようになる瞬間がとても嬉しいです！

ー　将来の夢、目標、ビジョンを教えてください！

いつか自分で絵本を作ってみたいと思っています。子どもたちが楽しみながら学べる、心に残るような作品を作るのが夢です。また、もっと良い先生になるために、コミュニケーション力もさらに磨いていきたいです。いろいろな国を旅して、新しい文化に触れ、たくさんの人々と交流することにも憧れています。個人としても教師としても成長を続けていけたらと思っています！

ー　最後に、英語学習者へのメッセージをお願いします！

どんなに頑張っても、伸び悩んでいるように感じるときはあるものです。でも、あきらめないでください。成長には時間がかかりますし、続けていくことで必ず成果が見えてきます。焦らず、自分のペースで進めていけば大丈夫です。あなたならきっとできますよ！

ー Where are you from?

I’m from Caloocan City, a bustling part of Metro Manila in the Philippines. It’s a lively place known for its busy streets and vibrant community. One thing that really stands out about Caloocan is the large number of motorcycles—you’ll see them everywhere! They’re a popular way to get around the city quickly, especially with all the traffic. Caloocan has a unique charm, with a mix of urban energy and local culture that makes it a special place to call home.

ー What’s your hobby?

I love expressing myself through singing, dancing, and digital arts—it’s a fun and creative way to unwind and share a bit of who I am. I also really enjoy staying active by playing basketball whenever I get the chance. And when I just want to relax, I like playing mobile games—they’re a great way to have fun and challenge myself. Whether I’m being creative, staying active, or just enjoying some downtime, I try to keep a good balance of the things that make me happy!

ー Why did you become a teacher?

Back in college, we visited an elementary school and helped the kids learn the alphabet and some basic words. Watching them pick things up and get excited about learning was such a heartwarming experience. It made me realize how much I enjoy seeing others learn and grow. Sharing what I know and helping others understand something new really brings me joy.

ー What are your tips to learn English?

One of the best ways to get better at English is by surrounding yourself with the language as much as possible. I always encourage learners to read English books, watch American TV shows or movies, and listen to English podcasts or music. These fun activities help you get used to how English sounds and how it’s used in real life. It’s also a great idea to join an English class or academy where you can talk with native speakers. The more you hear and use English in everyday situations, the more natural it will start to feel!

ー Which area are you good at teaching?

Throughout my experience, I’ve found that I’m really comfortable with general conversation and pronunciation. I’ve had the chance to help students improve their sentence structure, and I’ve especially enjoyed working with kids to help them with their pronunciation. I’m patient and encouraging, and I always try to make learning fun and engaging. It’s so rewarding to see students grow more confident as they learn to express themselves clearly!

ー What’s your dream/life goal/vision for the future?

One of my dreams is to create a picture book someday—something fun and meaningful that kids can enjoy and learn from. I’m also really passionate about improving my communication skills so I can become an even better teacher and connect with my students more effectively. I’m excited about the idea of traveling to different countries, experiencing new cultures, and learning from the people I meet along the way. It’s all part of growing, both personally and professionally, and I can’t wait to see where the journey takes me!

ー Give a message to English learners!

There’s always room to grow, and it’s totally normal to feel stuck sometimes. If it ever feels like you’re not making progress, don’t give up—just keep going! Growth takes time, and with a little patience and consistency, you’ll start to see amazing results. You’ve got this!
